The utility can import data from multiple sources like SQL Server, Excel, ODBC, OLEDB, CSV into an Excel-like environment from where it can be processed further. Direct manipulation can be done on the grids and data from multiple sources can be added as separate tabs or merged into a single tab using a common field. SQL Insert and Update statements can be generated based on the data in the grid or data can be exported to Excel (either as a single worksheet or as a workbook with multiple tabs) or as CSV. Finally, the structure of the workspace can be saved as a Data Management Project which will save the settings of all the sheets in the project including settings for generating SQL statements (mappings between column names and field names). When opening the project, all the sheets will be recreated and data will be refreshed from the data sources as set up for each sheet. This is an utility that we developed for internal use and we're making it available free of charge for use by the public. We will add more features later on as we need them.

Fixed performance issues when exporting large amounts of data to CSV, Excel and Generating SQL Statements

Testing performance on a sheet with 121662 rows and 16 columns:

CSV export in 2 seconds (24.7mb)
XML export in 3 seconds (76mb)
SQL INSERT statements generated in 5 seconds (56.4mb)
Excel 2010 in 25 seconds (9mb)

Added support to export to XML (individual sheet or whole project)

When attempting to display more than 500 generated SQL statements, a warning will display and recommend rather writing directly to file

When exporting to Excel, the blank column on the left used for selecting and dragging rows, won't be included in the export. Data will thus begin in column A.

Data Source can now be selected directly on the Data Sheet Editor. The Build popup window is now optional.

When copying a sheet, the Data Sheet Editor will automatically open for the newly created sheet

It is now possible to create a new project directly from an Excel Workbook or XML file. All the tabs / tables will automatically be imported.

The program can also be started with one of these file types as parameter. (i.e. drag an Excel file and drop it on the PRDataManager's icon)
