The complexity of the game increases very fast with N. The 'Dual' stands for the 2 streams of stimuli: audio and visual. 'N' refers to how many past sequences you have to remember. You can think of 'N' as the size of your memory buffer, while the two simultaneous sensor stimuli challenge your ability to multitask. Playing this game may help the player to improve the short term memory, the fluid intelligence and the multi-tasking abilities. This game was conceived by Susanne M. Jaeggi to test whether memory intensive tasks influence the short term memory and the Gf (Fluid Intelligence). She discovered that the IQ and Gf (Fluid Intelligence) scores improved significantly for people who trained daily, 3-4 times a week, for 1-3 weeks with Dual N-Back.
