HashBuddy is a tiny utility program that creates MD5, SHA1 or SHA2/SHA256 checksums for any file of any size. Checksums are also known as MAC (Message Authentication Code) or simply hashes, thus the product name, HashBuddy. The Checksum is a good anti tampering measure and ensures anyone downloading software, documents or pictures from your website, has a code to verify that the content hasn't been tampered with or replaced by malicious intrusion, for applications/executables this is particularly important.HashBuddy was built to have a minimum footprint and functionality focusing on the bare essentials. It lets you create either a MD5, SHA1 or SHA256 checksum for your file. HashBuddy does not need to be installed on your computer, nor does it have or stores any settings, the executable can be run on any machine and reside on any disk of your choice or a portable media like a USB stick if you prefer. Just double click the executable and HashBuddy will start.
